Linear Programming Problem

Linear programming problems LPP Introductions, related terminology such as constraints, objective function, optimisation , graphical method of solution for problems into variables feasible and infeasible regions bounded or unbounded physical and infeasible solutions optimal visual solutions up to three non trivial constants. A computer dealer deals in only two item – Desktop and Laptop. He has RS 5000000 t0 invest and has a storage space of at most 600 items. A desktop costs Rs 18000 and Laptop cost Rs 30,000. He estimates that from the sale of one Desktop he can make a profit of Rs 2500 and that from the sale of one Laptop Rs 4000. He wants to know how many Desktop and Laptop he should buy from the available money so as to maximise his total profit and completely use the storage space. Such problems which seek to maximise or minimise are called optimisation problems. A special but very important optimisation problems is known as Linear Programming Problem. The term Programming means a particular plan of action. Programming problem deals with determining optimal allocation of limited resources to meet the give objectives. The term linear means that all inequations used and the function to be maximised or minimized are linear. In this chapter, we shall learn about formation of linear programming problem and graphical method to solve the problems in two variables only.
