Trigonometry Class 10

Trigonometry

Trigonometry is the branch of Mathematics which deals with relation between angle and the ratio of sides of the triangle. There are six Trigonometric ratio. The earlier known work on trigonometry were recorded in Egypt and Babyylon.Early astronomers used it to find out the distances of stars and planets. Even, today it has wide application in the field of Engineering and Physical Sciences.

Content

Introduction of Trigonometric Function, Value of trigonometric function for some specific angles, trigonometric ratio of complementary angles, trigonometric ratios, Application of Trigonometry ( Height and Distance)

CBSE Syllabus

1. INTRODUCTION TO TRIGONOMETRY

Trigonometric ratios of an acute angle of a right-angled triangle. Proof of their existence (well defined); motivate the ratios whichever are defined at 0 and 90. Values of the trigonometric ratios of 30 , 45 and 60. Relationships between the ratios.

2. TRIGONOMETRIC IDENTITIES
Proof and applications of the identity Sin2A+Cos2A=1. Only simple identities to be given.

3. HEIGHTS AND DISTANCES:
Angle of elevation, Angle of Depression.  Simple problems on heights and distances. Problems should not involve more than two right triangles. Angles of elevation / depression should be only 30°, 45°, and 60°.
